What happens during your initial consult

Before our first consultation, we will collect a detailed history & gather pertinent information related to your breastfeeding journey.

In the comfort of your home, Heather or Arden will arrive at a time when your baby is ready to feed.

Before baby breastfeeds, we perform a weight with a highly accurate scale and will compare it to your baby's birth weight or previous weight to get an idea of how feeding has been going so far.

We observe & assess the entire feed and offer a variety of suggestions and recommendations. We provide hands-on support to improve latching and positioning, as well as techniques to improve milk flow. If you are supplementing, we can provide teaching around your desired method of providing breastmilk or formula.

A personalized feeding plan will be emailed to you after the consult.

We will provide methods of communication for follow-up support before we leave. Because we are Registered Nurses as well as IBCLCs, you may be covered for the visit under private insurance. Our visit is also a tax-deductible medical expense.

An initial in-home lactation consult is typically 1-1.5 hours in length

Follow up Consults are typically 45 minutes-1 hour in length

Please don’t tidy or clean for us! We know how busy life is with a new baby.
